  • 5 expert seminars (advisable but optional)
  • optional 1:1 coaching (at a day rate determined by the number of sessions)

(Please see below for further specific details of the programme components).

The events will be held at a central London venue in Westminster over a period of 9 months.

The programme has 2 distinct parts.

The first half focusses on “You as Leader” and has been chosen because it is not possible to separate out the “act of leadership” from the “leader as a human being”. “Leadership is not something we do but comes from deep inside of us and is a personal expression of who we are…. We are therefore looking to grow the person to grow the leader.

The second half is called “Leading Complex Systems” to explore how our responses and behaviours, shape our influence, relationships, partnerships, impact, effectiveness and ultimate contribution in leading dynamic, organic and complex professional and political organisational systems.

The programme requires participants to self direct, take responsibility for managing their own learning across a range of competencies which will have emerged from their Confidential Personal Needs Assessment and Leadership Profile and then shaped into their own personalised Learning Plan with the support of an experienced coach.

The programme provides opportunities for participants to

  • Identify and develop a  Leadership Profile through a 1:1 personal coaching session with an experienced Coach
  • Cohorts of participants will come from a variety of sectors from across the capital and from a number of backgrounds which will provide rich opportunities to learn with and from one another. The focus is on multi-professional leadership learning across opportunities
  • Cohorts will be part of a larger community of Leaders for London alumni that will provide key contacts of support and advice well beyond the duration of the programme
  • The Personal Needs Assessment and Leadership Profile includes a self assessment against a nationally developed resourceful leader Framework
  • Programme outcomes will provide opportunity for individual development, groups of staff from an organisation to develop within the same cohort, and for participants to join alumni from their own organisation who have been participants on previous cohorts of the programme
  • The programme events will provide opportunities to work with international leadership experts, serving corporate leaders from around the region and to engage in innovative problem-solving with fellow participants
  • Group coaching will include the opportunity to work in cross professional and cross organisational groups sharing reflective learning focused on key programme themes and specific project / problem solving inquiries
  • Expert Seminars enable participants to hear directly from Directors of Chief executives about challenges in particular environments such as education, safeguarding, health, and across the corporate and political landscape
  • Participation in whole cohort learning events will bring groups together to reflect on learning progress and to consider models of leadership
  • Leaders for London is supported by  ALDCS to which all  Directors of Children's Services in the region belong and is benefitting from their direct support in terms of support, expert seminars and keynote contributions
  • Group sessions will be oat a centreal London venue and seminars will be on line
